Hassocks
While many people know podiatrists deal with problems like ingrown toenails, you may not realise the extent of our services. Operated by Carol Salisbury BSc (Hons), Pod., Burgess Hill Podiatry offers a wide range of professional podiatry services which the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) regulate. This covers everything from general foot care to diabetic care and the treatment of biomechanical issues.
Consequently, we provide services for all kinds of patients in Hassocks, Burgess Hill and the surrounding areas.
With a commitment to patient care, we provide tailored advice and treatment plans for every patient. Your specific issue and the outcome of your assessment will determine what services we recommend however, the following are some of the main services we undertake:
What Does a Podiatrist Do?
Biomechanical Assessments
We regularly carry out biomechanical assessments for Hassocks patients, which involve looking at your lower limbs, joints and muscles as well as your feet. We also assess the way you walk and may use a foot scanner to identify where pressure and imbalances are.
These can cause a range of issues and even minor problems such as warts can result in an altered gait that throws your hips and back out of alignment. Consequently, many patients find that lower back pain is actually the result of foot problems.
Injuries & Accidents
We often see Hassocks patients who have injured themselves while exercising, and this is often due to incorrect footwear which can also cause blisters and calluses. Our podiatry services include advice on proper footwear for your needs, including footwear for diabetic care and preventing ingrown toenails, as well as general foot care to keep your feet in good condition.
Of course, footwear isn’t the only cause of lower limb issues and we also provide treatment for foot, leg, knee and lower back pain resulting from injury or accident. This includes full biomechanical assessments and tailored treatment plans.
Medical Conditions
Podiatrists often play a vital role in detecting and managing medical conditions. Some conditions, such as arthritis, may first manifest in the feet and we can help identify such issues as well as offering ongoing treatment to help manage them.
Furthermore, we also provide specialist diabetic care for patients in Hassocks with diabetes. Proper foot care is a key part of managing diabetes and we focus on specific symptoms related to diabetes as well as circulation and treatment of sores and cuts. We also undertake annual foot inspections which help avoid serious foot problems.
General Foot Care
As well as treating specific problems such as ingrown toenails, we offer general advice and podiatry services to help you keep your feet healthy. This includes information about good hygiene, hard skin, and foot problems in the elderly as well as help with day-to-day diabetic care in Hassocks.
